Fokin A. A.

Prof. Andrey A. Fokin is specialized in the fields of synthetic organic, physical organic, and computational chemistries.   After education at the Department of Organic Chemistry at Kiev Polytechnic Institute (engineer, 1983) and employment as an engineer-technologist at the Institute of Chlorine Industry, he returned to the Department of Organic Chemistry at Kiev Polytechnic Institute as post-graduate student (Ph.D, 1985), and than employed there as a research fellow (1986), senior research fellow (1987), associate professor (1992), full professor (Doctor of Chemical Sciences, 1995), Department Head (2008). He received the National academy of Sciences Award (1983), the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship at Universities of Erlangen-Nurnberg (1996) and Goettingen (1998), visiting professor fellowships at  University of Minnesota (USA, 2007),  University of Georgia (USA, 2002), and Giessen University (Germany, 2003-date).  His research projects were supported by NSF, CRDF, NATO Science Program, VW Foundation, EU FP6 Program, DFG, DFFD, and Ministry of Education of Ukraine. He published 125 papers in the leading  peer-review international journals (Nature, Science, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Journal of Organic Chemistry, Chemistry – A European Journal, European Journal of Organic Chemistry, Chemical Communications, Molecular Physics, Journal of Physical Chemistry, Applied Physics Letters , etc.), and authored 9 books and 15 patents.  He is among first 100 most cited Ukrainian scientists and among 10 most cited Ukrainian chemists (h index = 27 as of February, 2015).
